A Virgin's Take on LCA3 (LCA Virgin that is) And pictures, too!

First off let me say it was nothing at all like I expected. It far surpassed anything I could have imagined. What *did* I expect? Hmm, I guess FK Fanfic War in real life taking place at a charity auction. I know, sounds unrealistic, but it was lurking in the back of my head. Come to think of it, there's a lot of strange things lurking back there... but anyway.

The line up of events for Friday was light. More of a warm up to the weekend. I met a few people while waiting to register that I've been talking to for almost a year on line. It's nice being able to put faces to the names. There were films to watch (a special effects demo, FK & Nikita blooper reels, Nigel's "Top of the Food Chain" and a 'special' tape of 'what goes on behind the scenes when no one is supposed to be filming'... Roller Hockey anyone? *g*) The limited agenda left plenty of time to eat in the hotel restaurant and drink in the hotel bar.

The bar had to be the most popular place. Lots of great late night get togethers and discussions. Even had a drink with Nigel and a few other FKers one afternoon.

Saturday started out with a *long* line. (I guess everyone wanted to sit up front!) Things got started with Nigel Bennett and Jon Cassar welcoming us to the event. Next was a Nikita behind the scenes Q & A Panel. Auctioneers for the rest of the day included: the Nikita tech staff, Barclay Hope (Psi Factor), Nigel Bennett, Dean McDermott (Due South/Power Play) and Patricia Zentilli (LEXX).

The afternoon antics included a 'showing' by our very own Rae. Seems last year Barclay joked that the people doing the bidding were all a bunch of 'charity sluts'. Rae made up some t-shirts that read, 'Barclay's Charity Sluts'. Each shirt was marked with a different name, Able, Cheap, Easy, Loose, Sleazy, Willing and Doc! When the seven 'models' stood up Barclay first looked a bit confused, but it wasn't long before he was busting up! I got a couple of good pics and there are
some at the LCA site as well.

One of the funniest moments was when Nigel's son, Sam, climbed under the front table and began to toss out personal items (socks, sweatshirt, a watch). Dean played this to everyone's advantage by grabbing the items and auctioning them off! I think they brought about $125! Poor Dad, he had to go buy everything back... can't take the boy home half dressed!!

Saturday night was party time. There were eats as well as a DJ. Plenty of visiting, dancing and good times. Nancy K. and I got a little goofy at one point and started doing a polka around the dance floor! (This one's for you, Schanke!)

Sunday started off with a Nikita cast Q & A Panel followed by auctioning with the Nikita cast, Nick Gray (FK), Kathryn Long (FK), Jon Cassar, Brigitte Berman (Producer) and Nigel. The day wrapped up with a producer Q & A Panel and the lightening auction.

This year's Coke cans seemed to run along the lines of 'what can you take off' or 'where can you put it'. Although we did have one Coke can torture session as well as a recipient pampering session. When Nigel's Coke can was auctioned off, the buyer didn't want to retrieve it from
its 'hiding place'. A group of us sitting nearby held out our hands and piped in that we'd take it! Next thing I knew I was hearing the words, "Give it to the virgin!!" Suddenly my hand was introduced to... umm... you gotta see the pictures. ;) Needless to say I was a little too
occupied to take any pictures myself. Janet, Megan & Chris graciously allowed me to put their's up with my other photos. Thanks, guys!!

My highlights? I got my Blackwing Treaty!!! and I got to put my hand in Nigel's.... well, check out the pictures. *wg* I'm the one holding the Coke can. (Thanks again, JB!!)

The people I met at LCA were fantastic. We all talked like we had known each other Forever. One person even offered to help me buy the Treaty!! I was speechless! *waves to... you know who you are!*

I stayed for a couple days after LCA. Monday Nancy K., Rae and I took a trip to Niagara Falls. The place was truly amazing. We also stopped by Niagara on the Lake and wandered around a bunch of little shops. On the way back Nancy and I managed to put Rae to sleep with all our horse talk!

Bottom line? If there is any way at all for you to make it next year, do it! It's an experience you'll never forget. Make sure to visit my photo site to share in the fun.
